To improve convenience and safety for a user.SOLUTION: A tailgate device comprises: a tailgate 2 positioned in a rear face part of a vehicle 1; a driving device 4 for opening and closing the tailgate 2; detection means 6, 7 for detecting a change in a car weight of a cargo room 3 accessible from outside the vehicle 1 by opening the tailgate 2; and a control device 5 for controlling the driving device 4 to close the tailgate 2 when a decrease in the car weight is detected by the detection means 6, 7 while the tailgate 2 is open.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
