To provide a finishing material applying method in which air is hard to be included between the finishing material and a base material, and air is easy to be excluded from between the finishing material and the base material, and a mold.SOLUTION: An applying method of attaching a finishing material 1 to a front surface of a base material 5 via attachment materials 4, 6 includes steps of: thinly coating the front surface of the base material 5 with the attachment material 6, and thickly coating a rear surface 3 of the finishing material 1 with the attachment material 4; forming a groove 8 for excluding air, on a front surface of the attachment material 4; and bonding the front surface of the attachment material 6 coated on the base material 5 and the front surface of the attachment material 4 coated on the finishing material 1 after the groove 8 is formed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
