To efficiently produce purified water from snow or ice.SOLUTION: A purified water production apparatus 10 comprises: a storage chamber 12 which houses snow or ice; a treatment chamber 14 which is provided on a lower side of the storage chamber 12 in the gravity direction and houses water obtained by melting the snow or ice in the storage chamber 12; a partition member 22 which is provided between the storage chamber 12 and the treatment chamber 14; and a light source 30 which is provided on a lower surface 26 of the partition member 22 and irradiates the water in the treatment chamber 14 with ultraviolet light. The partition member 22, thermally connected with the light source 30, melts the snow or ice in the storage chamber 12 using heat generated when the light source 30 is turned on.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
