To provide a method for reinforcing a foundation structure and a structure for reinforcing a foundation structure that can easily reinforce an existing foundation structure.SOLUTION: An abutment reinforcing method for reinforcing an existing abutment 1 having a retaining wall 3 receiving earth pressure from the back and a footing 5 provided at a lower end of the retaining wall 3 comprises a shear key construction process for additionally constructing a shear key 11 with respect to the existing abutment 1. The shear key 11 is rigidly connected to a footing front end face 9 and extends from the footing front end face 9 so as to protrude at least one of upward and downward.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
