To provide a load-bearing wall that has a small number of parts, requires little processing time, can avoid local concentration of shear deformation and rotational deformation, and can cope with a narrow width.SOLUTION: In a load-bearing wall 10, an H-shaped steel 11 having a web 12 and a flange 13 connected to the web 12 at right angles is disposed with its longitudinal direction facing up and down. The upper and lower ends are joined to horizontal structural members 17, 17. A plurality of openings 14 are provided in the web 12 at predetermined intervals in the longitudinal direction. A portion between the openings 14, 14 adjacent in the longitudinal direction is a deformable portion 15 capable of absorbing energy. A portion of the H-shaped steel 11 excluding the opening 14 and the deformable portion 15 is a vertical frame portion 16 extending vertically.
