To provide a passage crossing gate with a mechanism that can release a blocking rod in the closed position to the retracted position as needed.SOLUTION: A passage crossing gate 101 includes a blocking rod 106 that extends in a direction crossing the axial direction of a drive shaft 103a and rotates vertically by rotation of the drive shaft 103a; hinge connecting mechanisms 103c, 103d for connecting the blocking rod 106 to the drive shaft so that the blocking rod 106 in the closed position can be turned horizontally to the retracted position, a biasing mechanism 110 for applying a biasing force to the blocking rod 106 to rotate toward the retracted position, and a resistance mechanism 120 for applying a predetermined resistance to hold the blocking rod 106 in the closed position against the biasing force. The resistance mechanism 120 is configured to use an electromagnet unit 121 and a magnetic body 122 receiving the magnetic force of the electromagnet unit so as to generate the resistance by the magnetic force of the electromagnet unit 121 that attracts the magnetic body 122.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6A
