To provide methods for improving brazed joints to reduce maintenance due to component failures, for an increased life of processing chamber components.SOLUTION: A method of forming a ceramic brazed joint includes deoxidizing a surface of metallic components, assembling the joint, heating the joint to fuse the joint components, and cooling the joint. A brazed joint 500 includes a conformal layer 530. A rod 506 disposed within a recess 502 has features to reduce stress concentrations within the brazed joint.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
