To provide a pile driver and a pile drive method that can construct piles even in a small area.SOLUTION: A pile driver 1 that drives piles into the ground includes: a support column 10, the upper end of which has a first pulley 11 and the lower end of which has a second pulley 12, and that is placed on a ground G; and a wire body 20 that runs across the first pulley 11 and the second pulley 12. One end of the wire body 20 has a hammer 30 and the other end has a fixing part 40 that is fixed to a pile P.
