To provide a driver assisting system and a driver assisting method capable of suppressing an increase in the number of components.SOLUTION: A vehicle 1 is provided with a shared system 9 for performing an operation of the vehicle 1 by a portable terminal 8 that has acquired key information Dk required for the operation of the vehicle through a network communication. The vehicle 1 includes a driver assisting system 30 using the shared system 9. The driver assisting system 30 includes a determination unit 34 for inputting operation information based on a vehicle operation of a driver driving the vehicle 1, executing abnormality determination for determining whether or not the vehicle operation is abnormal from the operation information, and performing a predetermined operation when the vehicle operation is determined to be abnormal.
