To provide a foldable staircase easily folded and unfolded, and having a compact folded state with good appearance.SOLUTION: In a foldable staircase, a stationary bridgeboard 2 with an upper oblique side formed in a footstep shape and fixed to a wall face, and a movable bridgeboard 3 with a lower oblique side formed in the footstep shape and rotatable are formed by connecting footstep-shaped horizontal parts with each other by multiple treads 4 having hinges 8 at both end sides. The movable bridgeboard 3 is lifted above the stationary bridgeboard 2 by the vertically standing treads 4 in a folded state and each tread 4 fits in a space while filling the space formed between the stationary bridgeboard 2 and the movable bridgeboard 3. Thus, all of the treads 4 and the movable bridgeboard 3 adhere on or approach the wall face and settle in a roughly flush state with the stationary bridgeboard 2. In an unfolding time, by rotating the movable bridgeboard 3 obliquely downward, a lower end side of the movable bridgeboard 3 abuts on a floor face to become an unfolded state, to thereby horizontally support all of the treads 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
