To further enhance safety.SOLUTION: A mechanical parking device comprises: multiple sensors to detect an object in a getting-on/off room; at least one unmanned condition confirmation input unit associated with each sensor and positioned such that the presence or absence of the object in an area monitored by each sensor is visible to a human; an entrance door at an entrance of the getting-on/off room; and a control device 60. The control device 60 comprises: a memory unit 81 to accumulate detection information of each sensor; an input control unit 82 which, upon occurrence of a prescribed trigger event regarding initial actuation of a transport device during an entry or exit of a vehicle, determines whether or not there is a sensor having detected the object after completion of a previous closing operation of the entrance door and, if there is a sensor having detected the object, enables at least one unmanned condition confirmation input unit; and an operation permission unit 85 to permit actuation of the transport device in a state where all the unmanned condition confirmation input units are disabled.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
