CERAMIC SINTERED BODY, INSERT, CUTTING TOOL, AND FRICTION STIR WELDING TOOL
To provide a ceramic sintered body with suppressed initial wear, and to provide an insert, a cutting tool and a friction stir welding tool using the same.SOLUTION: A ceramic sintered body, which comprises AlOand WC, in which at least one element selected from the group consisting of Group 4 elements is present in the boundaries of (1) and (2) of the following, that is, (1) grain boundaries between AlOcrystal particles and (2) grain boundaries between AlOcrystal particles and WC crystal particles. In analysis by XPS on the constituent elements of the surface of ceramic sintered body, the relationship between its peak area S1 derived from WOand its peak area S2 derived from WC satisfies the following Equation 1.
