To provide a self-healing matrix for ceramic composites.SOLUTION: A method for forming a self-healing ceramic matrix composite (CMC) component, the method comprising: depositing a first self-healing particulate material in a first region of a CMC preform of the CMC component; and depositing a second self-healing particulate material in a second region of the CMC preform that is distinct from the first region; wherein the second self-healing particulate material comprises a chemical composition different from that of the first self-healing particulate material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
