PROCESS FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF MAGNESIUM ALUMINATE SPINELS
To provide a manufacturing method of magnesium aluminate spinels having high optical transparency and moreover, large mechanical strength.SOLUTION: Magnesium aluminate spinels are made by hydrothermally aging an aqueous slurry of a spinel precursor. The spinel precursor can be (a) a mixture of boehmite alumina and a magnesium precursor, (b) an aluminum magnesium oxide or hydroxide, and (c) mixtures thereof. At least one of the aged slurries is dried to remove water and produce at least one dried spinel precursor. The dried spinel precursor is then calcined to produce the magnesium aluminate spinel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】光透過性が高く、しかも機械的強度の大きなアルミン酸マグネシウムスピネルの製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】アルミン酸マグネシウムスピネルの製造を、スピネル前駆体の水性スラリーに熱水熟成を受けさせることで実施する。前記スピネル前駆体は、（ａ）ベーマイトアルミナとマグネシウム前駆体の混合物、（ｂ）アルミニウムとマグネシウムの酸化物もしくは水酸化物、および（ｃ）これらの混合物であってもよい。前記熟成スラリーの少なくとも１つに乾燥を受けさせて水を除去することで、少なくとも１種の無水スピネル前駆体を生じさせる。次に、その無水スピネル前駆体に焼成を受けさせることで、アルミン酸マグネシウムスピネルを生じさせる。【選択図】図１
