To provide a device for gripping a columnar member such as a utility pole which, even in the presence of obstacles or in working in a narrow space, allows easy and safe building of the columnar member without, e.g., breaking the columnar member, and thereby can improve the working efficiency and the working safety.SOLUTION: A device 100 for gripping a columnar member comprises: a pair of gripping jaws 110A, 110B facing each other to be capable of gripping a circumference of a utility pole 1; and a control device 320 to control the force of the gripping jaws 110A, 110B gripping the utility pole 1. The control device 320 causes the utility pole 1 to be gradually lowered by its own weight by repeating the operations of: weakening the gripping force of the gripping jaws 110A, 110B from a state where the utility pole 1 is gripped by the gripping jaws 110A, 110B, thereby lowering the utility pole 1 by its own weight by a prescribed amount in the longitudinal direction thereof; and then restoring the gripping force of the gripping jaws 110A, 110B to grip the utility pole 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】 障害物があったり、狭隘な場所で作業を行う場合においても、簡単かつ安全に電柱等の柱状部材を建植することができると共に、柱状部材を破損等させることがなく、作業能率及び作業の安全性を改善することができる柱状部材の把持装置を提供する。【解決手段】 本発明に係る柱状部材の把持装置100は、電柱1の外周を把持可能に対面配置される一対の把持爪110A,110Bと、把持爪110A,110Bによる電柱1の把持力を制御する制御装置320と、を含んで構成され、制御装置320が、把持爪110A,110Bにより電柱1を把持している状態から、把持爪110A,110Bの把持力を弱めて電柱1の自重によりその長手方向に所定量降下させた後、再び把持爪110A,110Bの把持力を回復させて電柱1を把持する動作を繰り返させることにより、電柱1を自重により徐々に降下させる。【選択図】図1
