To provide a shovel which is mounted with a multi-function type portable information terminal possessed by a user and thereby can utilize various functions of the multi-function type portable information terminal in operation control of the shovel.SOLUTION: A shovel includes: an engine 11 arranged on an upper turning body; a hydraulic pump 14 which discharges hydraulic oil by power of the engine 11; a hydraulic actuator driven by the hydraulic oil discharged by the hydraulic pump 14; a cabin provided on the upper turning body; an operation lever 26A provided in the cabin; a short-range radio device; and a controller 30 connected to the short-distance radio device. 【課題】ユーザが所持している多機能型携帯情報端末をショベルに搭載することで、多機能型携帯情報端末の各種機能をショベルの運転制御に利用することができるショベルを提供することを課題とする。【解決手段】本発明の実施例に係るショベルは、上部旋回体に配置されたエンジン１１と、エンジン１１の動力により作動油を吐出する油圧ポンプ１４と、油圧ポンプ１４が吐出する作動油により駆動される油圧アクチュエータと、上部旋回体に設けられたキャビンと、キャビン内に設けられた操作レバー２６Ａと、近距離無線装置と、近距離無線装置と接続されるコントローラ３０と、を有する。近距離無線装置により、コントローラ３０は多機能型携帯情報端末４０とデータ通信を行う。【選択図】図５
