To stabilize a vehicle body by ensuring a wide contact patch even in narrow areas where the angles of the contact patches of the left and right traveling devices are different.SOLUTION: An open leg type hydraulic excavator comprises a round body that extends upward from a center frame to support a revolving body, left and right traveling devices that are connected to the center frame via a connecting shaft that extends in the traveling direction, rotate around the connecting shaft as a fulcrum, and can be opened in an inverted V shape when viewed from the traveling direction, and a tilt cylinder in which both ends are connected to the left and right traveling devices and the center frame and driven by the pressure oil discharged from a hydraulic pump to rotate the left and right traveling devices to open and close the legs. The connecting shaft is located higher than the center of gravity of the traveling device when the ground plane is horizontal. The vertical length of the round body of the center frame is secured so that the left and right traveling devices do not come into contact with the lower surface of the revolving body even when the tilt cylinder is fully extended and the left and right traveling devices are opened to the maximum.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
