To provide an additive for concrete, in which: a cement composition exhibits low viscosity and high flowability in an early stage of installation even if the additive is added; and long age strength of the concrete and the like is improved by the addition.SOLUTION: An additive for cement comprises a water-absorbing resin, wherein: the water-absorbing resin is formed by polymerizing a monomer mixture containing 75 mol% or more of a nonionic monomer; the monomer mixture comprises 0.01-1 mol% of a non-hydrolyzable cross-linking nonionic monomer and 25 mol% or more of a hydrolyzable cross-linking nonionic monomer.SELECTED DRAWING: None
