To provide: a joining member which has strength against bending stress applied by vibrations during transportation and operation of a fuel assembly, and which has airtightness for preventing leakage of radioactive nuclide; and a joint structure including the joining member.SOLUTION: End plugs 12A, 12B, 12C, 22A and 22B are formed by a base material composed of a SiC composite material at least whose surface region is reinforced by SiC fiber. An orientation direction of the SiC fiber, except for the SiC fiber that is inevitable for structure formation, is parallel to a length direction of the base material and parallel to a surface of the base material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
