To provide a sliding base isolation device that has excellent sliding durability without increasing the thickness of a friction material.SOLUTION: A sliding base isolation device 100 comprises structure fixing plates 20 and 30 comprising first sliding surfaces 21 and 31, and a metallic sliding body 10 comprising second sliding surfaces 12 and 13 in contact with the first sliding surfaces 21 and 31. A friction material 40 consisting of single cloth formed of a plurality of pieces of twisted yarn 41 in which high-strength fiber and PTFE fiber are twisted is attached to one of the first sliding surfaces 21 and 31 and the second sliding surfaces 12 and 13 or both of them.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
