To provide a production method of an uneven surface product capable of acquiring an uneven surface product comprising design property and fastness by an excellent uneven shape.SOLUTION: A production method comprises: a volume expansion agent-containing layer formation step for, on a substrate, forming a volume expansion agent-including layer which includes a volume expansion agent; a retardant application step for applying a retardant for suppressing expansion of the volume expansion agent, on the volume expansion agent-containing layer on a prescribed area; a volume expansion layer formation step for forming the volume expansion layer on other area other than the prescribed area, by expanding the volume expansion agent on the volume expansion agent-containing layer; and an overcoat layer formation step for forming an overcoat layer on the volume expansion agent-containing layer on the prescribed area and on the volume expansion layer on other area, so that an average thickness on the prescribed area is equal to or smaller than an average thickness on other area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2B
