To provide a door closing device that can easily pass through an insertion slot, into which the door closing device is inserted, to be installed at an installation position even when an opening/closing-directional dimension of the insertion slot is relatively small as compared with a conversion part, and a method for attaching the door closing device.SOLUTION: A door closing device 100 comprises: a drive source 1; and a conversion part 5 which includes a pinion gear 51 and a rack part 52 arranged to be engaged with the pinion gear 51 and moving linearly as the pinion gear 51 rotates, and converts rotational driving force of the drive source 1 into opening/closing-directional linear movement of a door body 6. The conversion part 5 is configured to be able to split at least one of one opening/closing-directional end part and the other opening/closing-directional end part of the conversion part 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
