To provide a joint structure of a wooden member and a steel member which has high energy absorption performance, has a simple configuration and facilitates designing, and a steel joint element.SOLUTION: In a joint structure 1 of a wooden member and a steel member in which a wooden beam 20 (wooden member) is joined to a steel pipe pole 10 (steel member) through a steel joint element 30 fastened to the steel pipe pole 10, the steel joint element 30 has a first part 301 whose base end is fastened to the steel pipe pole 10 and a second part 302 joined to the wooden beam 20 over a predetermined length from the tip, and a yield strength of at least the first part 301 is lower than those of the steel pipe pole 10 and the wooden beam 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
