To provide an additive for a soil improvement cement composition that can shorten the kneading time of soil cement.SOLUTION: An additive for a soil improvement cement composition contains: a copolymer having a constitutional unit derived from a sulfonic acid (salt) group-containing monomer of a specific vinyl ether, propenyl ether, or butenyl ether and a constitutional unit derived from a carboxylic acid (salt) group-containing monomer; and a carbonate and/or bicarbonate. The total content of the carbonate and bicarbonate is 0.5-30 times the mass of the copolymer.SELECTED DRAWING: None
