To suppress inappropriate setting of an alarm.SOLUTION: A periphery monitoring system of a work machine comprises: an object detection device for detecting an object in a periphery of the work machine having a cab; an outer alarm device disposed outside the cab; an operator alarm device disposed inside the cab; and a processor. The processor sets a control mode for controlling an operation of the work machine when an object is detected to either a valid mode for restricting at least a part of the operation of the work machine or an invalid mode not restricting it based on input data for setting the control mode of the work machine from an input device. The processor makes the operator alarm device valid or invalid based on the set control mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
