To provide a surface material moving device and a fitting capable of sliding a surface material to a prescribed position even if a single operation amount of an operation body is reduced.SOLUTION: A surface material moving device 10 slides the surface material slidably installed in a building, and comprises: a rack member 20 fixed on the surface material; and a driving body 30 that slides the rack member 20 in an X-axis direction. The driving body 30 includes: an operation body 50 capable of reciprocating in an R1 direction and an R2 direction; and a transmission switching device 60 that transmits a moving force in a one-way movement of the operation body 50 to the rack member 20 as a sliding force, and does not transmit the moving force in a return movement of the operation body 50 to the rack member 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
