To provide a coarse aggregate which can be produced inexpensively and remarkably improves the tensile strength of concrete.SOLUTION: In a coarse aggregate for concrete made of a metal band, at least one notch is formed at, along the longitudinal direction of the metal band, at least one end of the metal band, and a pair of strips sandwiching the notch are bent so that their tips are separated from each other. Preferably, notches are formed at both ends of the metal band along the longitudinal direction of the metal band. The same number of notches are preferably formed at both ends of the metal band.
