To provide a shield device capable of suppressing air conditioning load.SOLUTION: A shield device is provided with: a shield member placed at a perimeter zone of a building; a device for changing a position of the shield member; and a controller for controlling the device. The controller carries out a first determination process of determining whether there is a direct solar radiation directly reaching a resident area of the building from the perimeter zone, a second determination process of determining an air conditioning operation state in the resident area, and a changing process of changing a position of the shield member between a shield position allowing the direct solar radiation to be shielded and an exposed position allowing the direct solar radiation to penetrate into the resident area on the basis of results of the first determination process and the second determination process.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
