To prevent a registered electronic key from being copied, to thereby improve security.SOLUTION: A vehicle control device 10 causes a display portion of a vehicle 50 to display a PIN code (first identification information) in a registration mode. A user inputs the PIN code to a portable machine 30, and reads a bar code 29 (second identification information) of a FOB 20 (a first electronic key) by the portable machine 30. The portable machine 30 uses the PIN code and the bar code to generate an encryption key Y (second encryption information) common to the portable machine 30 and the vehicle control device 10, performs prescribed calculation on the basis of the encryption key Y, and transmits a result of calculation to the vehicle control device 10. The vehicle control device 10 determines whether the calculation result received from the portable machine 30 is correct or not and when a result of calculation is correct, registers the portable machine 30 as a second electronic key by storing the encryption key Y.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
