To provide a vehicle door lock mechanism in which the static load capacity of the door at a specified opening angle can be improved.SOLUTION: A vehicle door lock mechanism 10 includes: a door check link 16 connecting a swing door 14 and a vehicle body and having an arm section 18 formed with a notch 30; and a lever 52 having an engagement section 68 urged toward the arm section 18 and engaged with the notch 30 of the arm section 18 when the swing door 14 is opened at a specified angle and release sections 52B, 62 configured to be able to release the engagement between the notch 30 and the engagement section 68 by being swung in a direction in which the urging force is relaxed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
