To provide a catching body and a dam allowing members constituting a catching body to be reduced in weight.SOLUTION: A catching body 30 according to the present invention is provided with a plurality of column parts made of pipe members erected on the base B and connected to each other, wherein at least a part of the plurality of column parts comprises an upstream-side column part 41 facing an upstream side, and downstream-side column parts 43, 50 connected to the upstream-side column parts and facing a downstream side, the downstream-side column part includes a second piece 50 installed on the base B and a second leg part 43 connected to the second piece 50 and extending toward the upstream-side column part 41, and the second piece 50 has a thin part 51 on a side to be connected to the second leg part 43 and a thick part 53 arranged on a side of the base B with thickness 53d more than thickness 51d of the thin part 51.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
