To prevent an ascending/descending rope from falling off an ascending/descending sheave and/or an opening/closing rope from falling off an opening/closing sheave.SOLUTION: A work device 5 of a deep foundation excavator 1 comprises: a first ascending/descending sheave 19 and a first opening/closing sheave 21 movably provided in a longitudinal direction of an arm 10; a second ascending/descending sheave 23 and a second opening/closing sheave 30 provided on the arm 10 at a distance from the first ascending/descending sheave 19 and the first opening/closing sheave 21; an ascending/descending rope 38 wound around the first ascending/descending sheave 19 and the second ascending/descending sheave 23 and raising/lowering a clamshell bucket 9; and an opening/closing rope 40 wound around the first opening/closing sheave 21 and the second opening/closing sheave 30 and opening/closing the clamshell bucket 9. The arm 10 is provided with a rope support device 49 which is movable in a longitudinal direction thereof, and the rope support device 49 supports the opening/closing rope 40 to prevent the opening/closing rope 40 from falling off.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
