To provide a shock absorber capable of reducing a collision noise as much as possible during an engaging/catching operation.SOLUTION: A closer main body 20 comprises: a storage body 30; a slider 40 that moves in an opening/closing direction relative to the storage body 30; a latch 80 attached to the slider 40 that catches a receiving metal fitting 11; a retracting spring 50 that connects the storage body 30 and the slider 40 and energizes them in the opening/closing direction; and a damper 60 attached to the slider 40, configured to move in the opening/closing direction relative to the slider 40. A connection slider 90 placed between the latch 80 and the damper 60 is configured to move in the opening/closing direction relative to the slider 40, and is constantly in contact with the latch 80 and the damper 60.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13
