To provide a method capable of calculating the content of silica in the ground with high accuracy, and a ground strength estimation method using the calculation method.SOLUTION: In a method for calculating the content of silica in the ground which contains alkaline-eluting aluminum, sample soil of the ground is cleaned with an acid solution, and the silica is eluted from the sample soil by adding an alkaline elute to the sample soil cleaned by the acid solution, so that the content of the silica is calculated from the amount of the elution. The content of the silica is calculated on the basis of the method and the strength of the ground is estimated on the basis of a value of the calculation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
