To provide a panel unit capable of easily constructing a window opening with excellent design in a structural wall of a building, with a surface material unit not being visible when the window is fully opened, whether seen from the outside or inside of the room.SOLUTION: A panel unit is attached to a building's structural wall and positioned between an outdoor wall portion and an indoor wall portion, each of which has a window opening, and comprises: a panel body having an opening; and an opening device attached to the inner peripheral side of the opening. The opening device has: a frame body; a surface material unit that is slidably housed on the inner peripheral side of the frame body and opens and closes the window opening by sliding; and a storage space portion formed on the inner peripheral side of the frame body for storing the surface material unit with the window opening fully opened.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
