Preferably, the Al4SiC4 powder has a total pore volume of 0.70×10-3m3-kg-1 or less and an inflection point diameter of 15.0 μm or less. Preferably, the Al4SiC4 powder has an intraparticle void amount of 0.55×10-3m3-kg-1 or less. Using the Al4SiC4 powder, an additive for heat-shielding paint can be obtained.SELECTED DRAWING: None
