본 발명은 이동수단에 설치되어 도로의 표면에 형성된 포트홀을 검출하는 도로의 포트홀 검출장치 및 검출방법에 관한 것으로서, 이동수단에 의해 이동되면서 도로의 표면을 2차원적으로 측정하는 2차원 측정부와, 이 2차원 측정부에 의해 측정된 데이터에 의거해서 포트홀의 여부를 판단하고, 포트홀의 사이즈를 연산하는 연산부와, 이 연산부에 의해 판단된 포트홀의 데이터를 3차원적으로 처리하여 형상화하는 3차원 처리부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다. 따라서 본 발명은 2차원적 측정하고 측정결과를 연산하여 포트홀을 3차원 처리하여 입체 형상화 함으로써, 저가의 측정설비와 간단한 연산을 이용하여 포트홀의 검출비용을 절감하는 동시에 검출효율을 향상시킬 수 있는 효과를 제공한다.
