The present invention relates to a handrail post and a handrail having the same. The handrail post includes: a first wood pillar; a female plate including multiple connection units and connected to the first wood pillar by being formed in the shape of a long width rail having a cross-section of ″[″ shape; a second wood pillar; and a male plate connected to the second wood pillar by being formed in the shape of a short width rail having the cross-section of ″]″ shape and including the multiple connection units having a structure inserted and connected to the multiple connection units of the female plate in the vertical direction. The male plate and the female plate are overlapped and connected by being inserted into each other so that the outer side of flange on both sides of the male plate is in contact with the inner side of the flange on both sides in the cross-section of ″[″ shape of the female plate. At the same time, during a process in which the female plate and the male plate are overlapped and connected by being inserted into each other, the multiple connection units of the female plate and male plate are connected by being inserted into each other in the vertical direction.
