METHOD OF ENHANCING QUALITIES OF SAPPHIRES
A method for improving the quality of sapphire according to an embodiment of the present invention may include the following steps: preparing sapphire (Al_2O_3) employing 0.0195wt% or more of Fe_2O_3; applying heat at a temperature of 1,750°C to 1,900°C to the sapphire; and rapidly cooling the sapphire at a cooling speed of -100 °C/min or faster. In an embodiment, the method for improving the quality of sapphire may include a step of applying metal oxide powder to the surface of the sapphire, before the step of applying heat to the sapphire. The present invention can improve a color and a transparency of natural corundum such as sapphire (Al_2O_3) or ruby.
본 발명의 일 실시예는, 0.0195wt% 이상의 FeO가 고용된 사파이어(AlO)를 마련하는 단계와, 상기 사파이어에 1750℃∼1900℃ 온도의 열을 인가하는 단계와, 상기 사파이어를 -100℃/min 이상의 냉각속도로 급랭하는 단계를 포함하는 사파이어 품질향상 방법을 제공한다. 일 예에서, 상기 사파이어 품질향상 방법은 상기 사파이어에 열을 인가하는 단계 전에, 상기 사파이어의 표면에 금속 산화물 분말을 적용하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
