Lock for a folding door
The present invention relates to a locking device for a foldable door. The locking device includes: a gear box combined with a handle mounted on a door leaf of a foldable door to convert a rotary motion of the handle into a vertical linear motion; a connection bar connected to the gear box to be vertically operated according to rotation of the handle; and a latch connected to the connection bar to be vertically operated depending on the vertical operation of the connection bar by the gear box. The gear box includes: a housing; a pinion accommodated in the housing and operated by the rotation of the handle; at least one rack accommodated in the housing and rectilinearly operated by rotation of the pinion; and a spring accommodated in the housing to return the rack to its original position when power applied to the pinion is released. The latch is a bolt formed in such a way as to be inserted into or separated from a hole formed in the door leaf of the foldable door according to the vertical operation of the connection bar by the rotation of the handle. An end portion of the bolt, which faces the door leaf, is inclined so as to go back into the door leaf by being compressed to a door frame when the door leaf is closed and so as to be inserted into the hole formed in the door leaf by pressure by the spring in the gear box. The locking device further includes a shock absorber disposed at an end portion of the connection bar, wherein the latch is connected to the shock absorber. The locking device may include not the gear box operated by the rotation of the handle but a button type gear so that the locking device is operated when a user presses the button type gear.
