A coated plywood panel (100), having a length (lp), a width (wp), and a thickness (tp), wherein the thickness (tp) is less than the smaller of the length (lp) and the width (wp). The coated plywood panel (100) comprises a first veneer layer (110), a second veneer layer (120), and a third veneer layer (130), which have been attached to each other with adhesive (200), and a first covering (300). The first covering (300) comprises a first layer (310) comprising hardened resin, and a second layer (320) made of such a plastic polymer material that has a water absorption of at least 5 wt% as measurable according to ASTM D570 as an equilibrium value using water having a temperature of 23 °C and a melting point of at least 200 °C.
