This deodorizing method is a method for deodorizing offensive odors generated in a toilet body (2) of a toilet (1). Specifically, a deodorizing unit (22) having an air outlet (46) and an air inlet (56) is provided at the rear of the toilet body (2), and air is blown from the air outlet (46) so as to horizontally swirl along the inner surface of the toilet bowl (15), with the swirling returning air being taken into the air inlet (56) so that air is recirculated. In addition, deodorizing is performed during the circulation of the air.
