L'invention concerne un immeuble de grande taille - comprenant n étages, - une cage d'escalier, qui est reliée aux différents étages par des portes de cage d'escalier, - un vestibule par étage, qui est relié à la cage d'escalier par une des portes de cage d'escalier, - un puits d'évacuation, qui présente une superficie de section géométriquement libre d'au moins 0,6 m² et qui présente une tête de puits située au-dessus du plus haut étage et un pied de puits situé au-dessous de l'étage le plus bas (rez-de-chaussée), - un moyen d'évacuation à entraînement motorisé sur la tête du puits - respectivement un dispositif d'évacuation motorisé par étage, qui est disposé entre l'unité d'exploitation et le puits d'évacuation, le dispositif d'évacuation étant normalement fermé, - un détecteur de fumée par étage, qui est disposé respectivement dans l'unité d'exploitation, et - un dispositif de commande, qui est relié aux détecteurs de fumée, aux dispositifs d'évacuation et au moyen d'évacuation et qui, en cas d'incendie, active à l'étage auquel l'incendie a lieu le dispositif d'évacuation situé à cet endroit et le moyen d'évacuation sur la tête de puits.
