A pinching detection device (1) for detecting pinching caused by the opening/closing operation of an opening/closing body (2) is equipped with: a conductive member (3) provided along the edge sections (2a, 2b, 2c) of the opening/closing body (2); a sensor electrode (4) that faces the conductive member (3) and is provided inside the opening/closing body (2); and a detection unit (5) for detecting pinching between the opening/closing body (2) and an external member by using a change in the capacitance of the sensor electrode (4).
