The invention relates to a system (6) for locking to the ground a leaf (2) of a gate (1) provided with a post (3), said system (6) including: a sheath (7) housed in the post (3) and attached thereto; a bolt (9) slidingly mounted relative to the sheath (7) between a released position in which the bolt (9) at most only slightly projects beyond the post (3) and a locked position in which the bolt (9) projects beyond the post in order to be inserted into a hole in the ground; and a handle (11) for controlling the bolt (9), which extends through a vertical groove (4) made in the post (3), projecting beyond same regardless of the position of the bolt (9).
