Die Erfindung betrifft ein Gebäudehüllenflächenelement mit steuerbarer Abschattung. Die Aufgabe, eine neue Möglichkeit zur steuerbaren Abschattung von Gebäudehüllenflächenelementen zu finden, die eine Steuerung ohne elektrische Flächenelektroden gestattet und kurze Umschaltzeiten aufweist, wird erfindungsgemäß gelöst, indem Kapillarkanäle (21) von dem Fluid (3) über einen Fluidkreislauf (5) mittels einer Pumpe (51) umlaufend durchströmt sind, dem Fluid (3) magnetische Partikel (4) in Form einer Suspension beigemengt sind und außerhalb der Kapillarkanäle (21) mindestens ein Partikelkollektor (6) steuerbar angeordnet ist, um die dem Fluid (3) beigemengten magnetischen Partikel (4) in definierten Rohrabschnitten (62) des Partikelkollektors (6) magnetisch attraktiv zu konzentrieren und transient vom Fluidkreislauf (5) auszukoppeln.
