A work machine according to the present invention comprises: a work device having a bucket; a bucket position acquisition unit that acquires the position of the bucket; a distance calculation unit that calculates the distance between the position of the bucket as acquired by the bucket position acquisition unit and a design terrain to be constructed; and a recording unit that records, on the basis of the distance calculated by the distance calculation unit, current terrain data corresponding to the position of the bucket.
