The present disclosure provides a solar blocker further comprised of an buoyant outer ring surrounding a central portion. The central portion is preferably comprised of an inner, radiant layer to reflect radiant heat from the sun outwardly and away from the pool water surface, said inner layer sandwiched in between two outer layers, generally made from a heavy plastic that will not blow off the water surface with wind gusts, but also light enough not to sink and rather float.
