A steel-wood composite engagement slot joint comprises square wood columns (1), wood beams (2), a central steel tube (3), beam end steel sleeves (4) and an external free sleeve (5). Upper and lower wood columns (1) are connected by means of the central steel tube (3). The wood beams (2) are connected to the central steel tube (3) by means of the beam end steel sleeves (4). The external free sleeve (5) is sleeved onto the outside of the central steel tube (3). Also disclosed is an installation method for the steel-wood composite engagement slot joint. The steel-wood composite engagement slot joint uses a steel component as a main body, and has a simple installation process and improved strength and stability.
