A ladder tool holder is disclosed having a support element extending along a structural element of a ladder, the support element having a securing means to retain the support element to the ladder. A support arm extends from the support element, the support arm having a hole and a slot extending from the hole. A tool holder with a vertical protrusion engages the support arm by passing into the hole until the protrusion is cradled in the slot. The ladder tool holder may be retained on a side rail or through a hollow rung. Tool holders may be configured to hold particular equipment and/or materials, and may be interchangeable to suit the needs of the user.
